Hello, my name is Barbara, entrepreneur, master colorist, hair designer, hair loss practitioner and one of the newest contributors at The Fix Salon and Spa in Easthampton.

I am a native to the Valley, and the owner of Shear Xtreme. Founded in 2003, with many years of experience as a professional stylist and salon owner, I was ready to follow my dream of exceeding all my clients’ expectations of a visit to the hair salon. By creating an atmosphere where each client would feel welcomed, pampered, and genuinely cared for, I have designed hair over many years to cater to each of my clients. Listening to your needs, creativity and artistry have inspired the concept of "Consult, Create, Craft" and allows me to create a totally unique hair design, which is my passion and art. I welcome you to sit back and enjoy a quiet moment away from your busy day in my chair. I can create your new look and teach how to maintain that style with the right products and tools. 

I offer a wide array of services including hair extensions, smoothing treatments, Inca Glow, Keratin Complex, deep conditioning, and bond repair treatments.  My services also include facial waxing, extensive haircolor services and specialize in dimensional color and highlighting. Utilizing quality salon products from Pulp Riot and Joico Color Intensity, Paul Mitchell color, and any other color line that attracts my fascination, I love creating truly unique color combinations for my clients. I also specialize in custom haircutting, razor cutting, specialize in curly hair cuts and simply take pleasure in being your hair designer 

Also, I have created a team of beauty experts and stylists, Beauty to Be. When your wedding or special event needs arise, we can assist by being your on and off-site wedding hair and make-up team. Our stylists make it a priority to undergo continuous education, certification and training to keep current on the latest styles and trends. We will always remain focused on your individual needs by taking the time to listen and make your vision a reality. 

I am a certified Hair Loss Practitioner, Nationally Certified AMCA in 2020.  Specializing in trichology, I am currently offering in salon or virtual consultations to help identify your type of hair loss and recommend the right products, services and solutions for my clients. I have cultivated a holistic approach in evaluating personal history, genetic and environmental factors and lifestyles to effectively help treat and prevent hair loss for my clients. 

I have experience as an instructor at a local cosmetology school. I love teaching and mentoring students  and showing them real world experiences to bring a focus to their education and broaden their skills. I regularly volunteer and support many local non-profits and enjoy community involvement through: Score,  American Heart Association, Wigs for Kids, Rays of Hope, Great Cycle Challenge for Kids Cancer and more. Sharing and caring in our community is a passion straight from my heart. 

Relocating after 16 years from my salon in downtown Northampton, I would be honored to have you as my guest in our beautiful new location at The Fix Salon and Spa in Easthampton.
